Integration Overview Please Read First

The aMember/WordPress integration is not performed like a typical WordPress plugin solution. aMember is a stand alone membership program that is installed on the same server as the WordPress installation and integrated with WordPress.

  • WordPress can be installed in the root or a sub directory of the website.
  • aMember should be installed in a sub directory of the website. The sub directory can be named anything but in the examples shown in this documentation it will be named "amember".
  • If you are using recommended automatic installation, amember directory will be placed inside your WP folder.

aMember Next utilizes WP authentication system for user-side pages. WP admin account are automatically created as aMember admin account during automatic installation.

  • To keep the aMember user database and the WordPress user database in sync, all registrations will be performed on the aMember Signup Page. It happens automatically when you have aMember Next WP plugin enabled.

  • To make all aMember features (like user locking, user admin approval, ReCaptcha, etc.) users must login to WP using aMember login form. It happens automatically when you have aMember Next WP plugin enabled.

How to enable aMember <=> WordPress Integration

  • If you have no aMember Next installed on your website, follow these instructions
  • If you have aMember Next already installed on your website, and it is not yet linked to WP, do the following:
    1. Download aMember Next WP plugin from aMember website
    2. Go to WP admin dashboard, click Plugins from left menu, then click Add New button on top right. Choose a local downloaded plugin file (named wp-amember-next) and continue
    3. Click on aMember Next WordPress Integration plugin in the plugins list and activate it if necessary
    4. A menu item aMember will appear in the WordPress admin dashboard menu (at left), click on it
    5. aMember installation wizard will ask if you have aMember installed or no. Choose Yes and continue
    6. Choose a folder where you have aMember Next installed.
    7. Congratulations! You have link between aMember Next and WP completely configured. Please check First Steps instructions to continue.
